What I've Been Doing

I saw Phosphorescent. He was amazing. Amazing. The two albums of his I have soft and almost quiet. Live he his loud and rockin' and fun. The did a series of Willie Nelson songs (two of my favorites: Reason to Quit and It's Not Supposed to Be This Way) and a lot of stuff from his newest album. He got down into the crowd and danced. I was in the perfect position to videotape the whole thing, but instead I just took a few pictures. To say I adore this man (and his band) is an understatement.

Some things I noticed while I was waiting forever for the show to start: I am not hipster enough to go out in this town. I am old. I have zero, and I mean zero, patience for pretentious local bands who spend their time plucking one guitar string at a time while they stand on stage and stare at each other. Do it while wearing a baby-doll dress and boots I wore in 1985, and I will want to punch you in the face.

I read a book. Another one. Bossypants. I bought this for a specific reason to read at a specific time. And I not only devoured it, I read it in less than a day. I loved every single thing about it. And then I gave it to a friend telling her that pretty much every woman should read it. A couple of of posts ago, Mary commented that she read it and thought of me while she was reading it. I can say, in all honesty, that that is one of the nicest things anyone has ever said about me. I always liked Tina Fey, but after reading her book, I love, love, LOVE her. And I thought of many of my female friends while I was reading it.

My job changed a bit. Okay, a lot. I'm not going to go into details, but I kind of coordinate stuff now. My world went from normal, manageable speed to about 500 miles per hour.
