Overheard on the Elevator

Scene: Group of four young women discussing gender rolls and societal expectations.

"When I call my male friends 'dude' I'm making a statement. By saying 'dude' I'm making a declaration that he is just that my dude. It establishes a platonic relationship....." (Conversation trails off as they get off the evaluator and the doors close.)
