I was never part of AmeriCorps. I interviewed for a Vista/AmeriCorp job when I was out of school. I didn't get it, but when the search committee made their decision, the head of the committee called me personally to tell me how impressed he was with me to tell me he thought I would go far.
I've known several people who were part of AmeriCorp, including my friend Erin from library school and Mary over at Stronger than Dirt. Go read Mary's letter to her congressman on why he should vote to save AmeriCorp and Corporation for National and Community Service.
