Is someone strangling a cat?

I was at the reference desk tonight. And at some point I heard this noise coming from outside, but I just heard short snippets as the doors opened and closed. And then someone went out the handicap-accessible door -- which take longer to open and close. A student came in from outside and I asked, "Are those bagpipes?" Yes, they were.

I don't know why there were bagpipes outside the library. Nor do I know who was playing them. As I was leaving they were still out there but not playing. I didn't stop to find out why because I had to get my ass home to see part one of the Project Runway finale.

I have never heard bagpipes first hand, but, you know, they really do sound like someone is trying to strangle a cat.
